Delco Bar of the Week:
Sligo Irish Pub
Located on Media’s equivalent of West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip, Sligo Irish Pub is Main Street’s premier place to sit down with your buds, order a round of Flying Fish, and get buckled up. It’s homey atmosphere and rich mahogany décor also makes for a lovely, sensual evening if you and a lady are looking to enjoy a romantic evening. Boasting a wide variety of on-tap beers and only the most refined whiskey for your professional taste, Sligo meets anyone’s drink requirement if they’ve had a long day at work or they’re battling a bout of the blues.
Its menu is pretty solid: burgs, fries, chick-fings, whathaveyou. The tenders are pretty friendly and you can always find a late summer evening Phils game on while chewing the fat with them. Also, a pretty tremendous place to spend hours playing Photo-Hunt.
Perhaps the most attractive feature of this great little place is knowing that you won’t be tempted to drop ecstasy the minute that you walk in, as is the case with Jocelyn’s. But hey—that’s right across the street, and if that’s what you’re into, more power to ya, buddy. Rather, it’s a place where you can pull up a chair or a stool, throw down your card, and go to town without the pressure of having to dance to the shitty-ass black music shit that comes spilling out of most speakers nowadays. You won’t find that noise at Sligo. And you likely never will.
