The Plumstead Inn Located in the heart of State St. in Media, The Plum is your typical neighborhood dive bar. It's got a musky smell and you'll likely cause some heads to turn as you walk through the door. Typical dude lounge. Beers are cheap, as expected. Remnants of dart and softball teams from the 1970s line the walls as well as some Philadelphia sports memorabilia. It's not Jocelyn's and it sure isn't Sligo. You don't go there to make friends or to pick up babes. You go there to put in a shift with a couple pitchers of lager and a couple shots of Jameson to forget about the retaining wall you have to install the next morning at 7am. The Plum is also great if you have a big group as there are plenty of booths in the back that you and your comrades can take over while enjoying some pints. They also have outdoor seating during the warmer months. Just keep your expectations low and you will not be disappointed.

It should be noted that one night, the December of 2011, while posted up at the Plum and ordering whiskeys, a makeup-less Wanda Sykes walked through the door with her posse of string bean white dudes after a local comedy show. She's gross.

Used to hang at John's Bar & Grill (we still call it "John's Barf & Spill) years ago. Harry Kalas used to stop in after calling home games and would buy a round for everyone in the bar. For real. Never cared much for the Plumstead. Seemed like you weren't welcome there unless you lived in 19063.

Wow. That's some mighty fine grammar and logic right there.

Went there once alone and got looks when I walked in the door as if I wasn't welcome there because I wasn't a regular. I went a second time two years later with some girl I was dating who used to frequent the place. I was much more welcome that time. As it turns out, she frequented a lot of these kinds of places. Moral of the story....if you don't get the feeling you're welcome when you walk in the front door, leave and spend your money elsewhere. And if you're dating a woman who know's everyone in a place like this.....she wants to be around a bunch of guys, and has a drinking problem.
