Scumbag of the Week:
Christine Rogers
Drinking and driving is something many Delco residents pride themselves on. Some of us get caught and many of us don’t. Fuller got a DUI in Avalon once because he needed a pack a cigs to calm his nerve since some chick wouldn’t blow him in the outside shower. Instead of walking the 6 blocks to the WaWa, he decides to take one of his friend’s car and drive. One wrong turn and an orange construction cone later, Fuller found himself locked up in the Cape May Court house. Another buddy of mine, Dropout, flipped his car heading home from a night out with the boys, and amazing crawled out of his car unharmed, but still got a DUI.
So when does drinking and driving cross the line of a poor humorous idea to a reckless one? .09? .12? .20? How about .374 while driving a short bus during rush hour with a special needs student (a retard) as the passenger? In Christine Rogers defense no one was harmed in the accident expect for a few bushes and a stop sign. After the officer conducted a routine field sobriety test on Rogers, he found an empty bottle of Vodka and a water bottle filled with Vodka in the bus. Rogers, who is from Levittown, but drove a bus for the Jews of Strath Haven was only sentenced to 72 hours of jail time which can be fulfilled on the weekends, $1,000 fine, and 104 hours of community service. I can only assume that the defense argued that the mentally challenged youngster on board the bus did not count as a real person, which was why the sentencing was not larger. If you find yourself in a similar case, you may think about hiring defense attorney Mark Much to help get your sentence lowered. Rogers, who is no longer allowed to drive the short bus, can be found at the local AA meetings that she pledges she will attend for the rest of her life.
The sentencing she received was nothing more than a slap on the wrist, but the act she committed definitely earned her the title of this week’s scumbag.
