Bar of the Week: Jack's Tavern
Jack's is a place to grab a cold Budweiser during the Phils game before hitting State St. Don't be alarmed when every head turns your way as you enter. Patrons may look dirty and gritty, but underneath those dirty nails and unshaven faces is a welcoming group of beer drinkers and cigarette smokers. On a Wednesday around noon, it is not uncommon to find a couple regulars grabbing a sandwich, beer, and a shot before getting back to work.
Around 6 TV's surround the place, with 4 of them being HD flat screens. Beer selection is to the point: Lager, Bud, Miller, Coors, with some specialty beers that will get you a "dickhead" look if you order one. Don't count on plastic, only cash is accepted here. It is not uncommon to show up for a couple beers before a night out, and end up stumbling out around 1:30am wondering what had just happened. Must have been the Blackhouse.
